American Legion Post 831 Presents PARPC with Funds to Assist Children of Military Families

The Palmyra Area Recreation and Parks Commission is pleased to announce American Legion Post 831, located in Campbelltown, presented PARPC with a $500 check to assist with scholarships for economically disadvantaged children of veterans to participate in the various recreational programs offered. As a result of this donation, 15 PARPC scholarships will be granted during 2020.

The American Legion was charted and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans’ organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in their communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security and continued devotion to this nation.

Locally, they support numerous programs with a special emphasis for veterans and children in need.

During this time of year, when many needs go unmet, we are delighted to be working with a charitable organization that puts others needs above their own. PARPC is proud to be partnering with The American Legion Post 831 to provide scholarships for children of veterans as well as those active and retired military personnel. For more information, please contact PARPC at 717-838-9244.
