2024 Fall Girls Field Hockey Program (Kindergarten-8th Grade)

PARPC GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY PROGRAM FIRST THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE

  • Three divisions by Grades (1-2), (3-4), and (5-8).  (Scroll down to the bottom of the page for Kindergarten information)
  • Uniform included (Team t-shirt and field hockey socks)
  • 7-8 weeks of practices and games total 2x per week (most games are Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon).

DATES:

  • Practices begin the week of August 19th and continue through late October.
  • Season starts with two weeks of 2x per week practices, then moves to 1x per week practice and one game per week mostly on Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon. This schedule is sometimes varied and subject to change, based on field availability and Holidays.
  • Game days are as follows at In The Net – *Typically games run 5-8 grade, followed by 3&4 grade, and 1&2 grade games last (except any weekday games when 1&2 grades play first) .  Exact game times for specific teams will be determined the week of August 26th at the latest, after registration is closed, teams are finalized, and coach availability is secured. Saturday games will begin at 9am and wrap up around noon. Sunday games will be in the afternoon typically between 1pm to 4pm. List of proposed game dates (SUBJECT TO CHANGE): September: 8th (1-4pm), 14th (9am-12pm), 22nd (1-4pm), 29th (1-4pm), October: 6th (1-4pm), 8th (5:30-8:30pm), 19th (9am-12pm), 22nd (5:30-8:30pm).
  • Practices and games times are determined based on athlete and coach availability noted on registration forms as they are received. Each season practices and games are different because we balance ability (with mandatory assessments), age, and schedule availability together with a parent coach to make the program as balanced as possible for the best experience for our athletes. We customize schedules in order to allow maximum participation for our young athletes. We appreciate your patience with creating a schedule as registrations come in and later finalized after registration is closed, in order to accommodate our coaches, referees, and athletes each season. Please note your schedule of availability is due before the last day of registration ends. If your schedule changes after registration closes, we cannot guarantee your participation and will refund your money minus a small office fee if we cannot work out a schedule. We appreciate your patience with schedules in order to accommodate our many coaches and athletes each season.
  • R&K SUB FUNDRAISER FORM FOR FIELD HOCKEY – Subs are due to the office at 325 South Railroad Street, Palmyra with checks payable to PARPC by Thursday, September 19th. Checks and forms can be mailed or put in the tan drop box outside of the Palmyra Municipal Building (same address). Pickup is October 2nd from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, also at our office.

NEED TO KNOW:

  • ASSESSMENTS- MANDATORY ASSESSMENTS for players rising in 3rd- 8th grade in fall of 2024 ***Must be registered for the PARPC program to attend assessments***
  • Note: Athletes at all levels are encouraged to play and assessments are for the sole purpose to keep teams as even as possible for fun games and fair play. In our program NO ONE gets cut, and all players get equal time on the field at practices and games. Please attend one date that works for you and no need to notify us which date you choose. Remember you must be registered to attend assessments. *PLEASE do not wear cleats to assessments- sneakers or turf sneakers only.
  • ASSESSMENT LOCATION: PA United Sports Facility at 202 Piper Circle, Annville, PA
  • NOTE CHANGE OF DATE/TIME FOR SECOND DATE OF ASSESSMENTS!  CHANGED FROM JULY 16 TO JULY 17!!!! TIME CHANGE TOO- SEE BELOW!
  • Please pick one session either July 9th or July 17th- not both, and no need to notify us of which you choose as long as you’re registered, we’re good to go!
  • ASSESSMENT DATES:
    • Rising in fall of 2024 3rd & 4th GRADERS MANDATORY ASSESSMENTS (choose 1 date) July 9th from 5:30-6:30pm OR July 17th (note date time changed from 16th!) from 4-5pm.
    • Rising in fall of 2024 5th , 6th, 7th & 8th  GRADERS MANDATORY ASSESSMENTS (choose 1 date) July 9th from 6:30-7:30pm OR July 17th (note date and time changed from 16th!) from 6-7pm.
  • Mouth guard, field hockey stick, and shin guards are required to play hockey at assessments and in season.
  • STICKS FOR SALE THROUGH JUNE 26TH :  Discounted Field Hockey sticks- 28″, 30″, 32″, 34″, cost is $36. Also, available- 29” Sticks at a deep discount of $20 ***NO sticks will be ordered after June 26th to be in time for assessments*** (assessment dates are above)
  • What field hockey stick size fits my child? Measurement is taken from the ground to the top of your athlete’s hip bone to the nearest inch listed, going with a shorter stick as opposed to longer for better control.  If you cannot afford to purchase a field hockey stick, we might be able to help. Please email hhershey@palmyrarec.org for more information on some used, free sticks.
  • 7th and 8th graders are encouraged to either play Rec OR Middle School hockey- not both.
  • SEASON INFORMATION: Players will be contacted by August 5th by their coach regarding practice times which begin the week of August 19th.  NOTE: Not all coaches contact athletes on the same day. If you do not hear from your coach by August 5th, please first check your SPAM folder on the email you supplied us, then email hhershey@palmyrarec.org for team contact information.
  • Placement is made depending on availability on registration forms, so please be sure to note days you are UNAVAILABLE.
  • COACH’S MEETING: 30-45 minute mandatory coach’s meeting on July 22nd at 5:30pm at the Palmyra Municipal Building at 325 South Railroad St, Palmyra PA in the Judge’s Chambers. We ask our Coaches and Assistant Coaches to please make every effort to attend and if you cannot please email hhershey@palmyrarec.org to make other arrangements.

SPONSOR A TEAM:

PARPC is looking for businesses willing to sponsor a team. A fee of $135 puts your company logo on the team t-shirts, a customized team plaque with picture as a thank you, and a letter from our Non-Profit so you can write off your donation at tax time. GIRLS KINDERGARTEN FIELD HOCKEY

Join Palmyra High School field hockey assistant coach Kayla Ricker for some Kindergarten Field Hockey fun and instruction. Skill sessions and daily activities are specifically geared toward Kindergarteners for an introduction to the sport.

  • WHEN: Sunday afternoons from 12-1pm on September 15th, 22nd, 29th, October 6th, & 13th.
  • COST: $60  ($70 for non PASD)
  • WHERE:  Pine Street Elementary Soccer Field in Palmyra, PA
  • WHO: Kindergarteners rising up this fall ONLY. Please do not sign up your rising 1st grader.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Must register by September 10th for Kindergarten Field Hockey. You can register online or by mail.
